Jayven Schmidt, a homeschooled seventh grader from Indiana, has a passion for writing. He has long been enthusiastic about the prospect of editing a family newspaper. His mother, Janice, supports her children in pursuing their talents and dreams, believing they open doors to wonderful opportunities.

This week’s newspaper covers a diverse and exciting range of topics, including this week’s family adventures, intriguing political fiction, and creatively designed advertisements. The front page highlights the visit of a talented traveling singer as well as an upcoming cooking school event organized by our local church. Meanwhile, the Story Selection includes the thrilling conclusion of “The Flip Side of Tubing.” There is also a suspenseful fictional update about Iraq’s recently discovered hidden tunnel, alongside a humorous report celebrating the birthday of Harry Larry. Nobody will find the advertisement section dull, thanks to its humorous ads and an informative “Strange But True” item that adds an extra layer of interest. Additionally, puzzle enthusiasts will be delighted to find everyone’s favorite feature on the back page: the classic Mad Libs. Along their journey, they encounter several unexpected challenges and obstacles that test their skills. As a first-time participant in this adventurous and thrilling activity, Janice feels quite nervous and apprehensive about what lies ahead, unsure of what to expect but eager to embrace the experience.
